As Americans increase the use of disinfecting wipes to clean and kill germs, they are also harming sewer systems by flushing them down the toilet.

California officials released the following statement, but the issues exist everywhere:

Flushing wipes, paper towels and similar products down toilets will clog sewers and cause backups and overflows at wastewater treatment facilities, creating an additional public health risk in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.

Even 'Flushable Wipes' are not approved by most any most water systems for flushing.

One official encourages us to remember the three Ps of what are the only things that should be flushed don the toilet -- Poop, Pee, and (toilet) Paper.

Save your pipes. Don't flush wipes.
