Hot Donuts Available Tomorrow in Fridley – Worth the Drive?
Here we are, with another donut shop ready to open tomorrow, Wednesday. It's Krispy Kreme and it's back. The last Krispy Kreme closed in 2008, 17 years ago. And the one in St. Cloud seemed like it was barely open before it closed permanently. They had even built a brand new building that was torn down after the closure. That just seems like a total waste.

DELIVERIES
Krispy Kreme brought donuts out to a bunch of businesses several times when the shop was getting ready to open here in St. Cloud. It wasn't just once, it was about 10 times with several dozen donuts dropped off. And I'm sure we weren't the only ones getting the complementary donuts, either. I'm wondering if people were just burned out on the donuts before they even opened, or what was the issue. Either way, it was short lived here in St. Cloud. Then, all of the locations in Minnesota closed, even the most popular one in Maple Grove.
TIME TO TRY AGAIN
17 years later, they are trying again. This time in Fridley, and it's opening tomorrow.
Just to get in on the hype, you can drive down to Fridley and see the commotion if you would like.
POLICE PRESENCE
Police will be positions around the donut shop in order to direct traffic. They will be helping the people who want to get a fresh, hot donut, as well as the people who are just trying to get through the area.
Police will be stationed on 57th Avenue NE to help reduce congestion on the roadway. Drivers heading to Krispy Kreme will be directed further west on 57th Avenue before entering the parking lot, helping to prevent backups in the University Avenue turn lane. There are no planned road closures in the area related to the opening.
WANT TO BE ONE OF THE FIRST
If you are one of the people wanting to head down there to check out the new shop, maybe you want to wait until next week? It will probably be super busy tomorrow, it always is when new places open. The weekend might be even worse. Or - wait until the evening. The traffic usually slows by that time. Your choice. Whatever works for you.
Let's see how long this one lasts.
