This Summer has been so hot and humid and in some instances miserable.  How do you cool off when it's this hot? We in Minnesota tend to find a body of water somewhere, like a lake or a river or even just a pool.  And of course then, you are outside in the sun and defintely need sunscreen, and a lot of it.  Probably best to get the aerosol type that's easy and usually in some sort of sport kind that doesn't come off as easily with water and/or sweat.

Now, some of the popular brands are being recalled because of suspected carcinogens. Benzene is a carcinogen and can cause some forms of cancer.

There could be traces of benzene in some of the Johnson and Johnson sunscreens. These include some of the Aveeno and Neutrogena spray (aerosol) sunscreens.  According to the NYTimes there are very specific sunscreens that are being voluntarily recalled.

The recall included four Neutrogena aerosol sprays — Beach Defense, Cool Dry Sport, Invisible Daily and Ultra Sheer — and the Aveeno Protect + Refresh spray.

Normally benzene isn't something that would normally be included in any of their sunscreens but somehow there have been traces of the carcinogen detected.  The recall is being done to make sure that no one has any negative health consequences.  Johnson and Johnson is also conducting an investigation as to why there are traces of benzene in the sunscreens.

So, if you do have any of these sunscreens discontinue use and throw them out.
