Hoverboard Batteries from Walmart & Target Recalled, Fire Hazard

According to FOX 9 News, if you purchased one of these hoverboards from Walmart, Target, Amazon, Walmart.com or Target.com you could be floating around on a potential fire hazard.  The hoverboards in question were available at these retailers fron September 2016-2018.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has put out a warning for the hoverboards sold at any of the fore mentioned retailers. The battery packs in the hoverboards pose a potential fire hazard.

The maker of the hoverboards, Razor says there are roughly 237,000 battery packs being recalled nationwide. The lithium-ion GLW battery packs are used to power the Hovertrax 2.0 Self-Balancing Hoverboards according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The problem is with the battery packs overheating and causing them to smoke or catch fire. There have been no injuries reported from the 20 or so reports of the battery packs overheating.

"Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled self-balancing scooters/hoverboards," CPSC said.

Razor wants you to contact them and they will send you a prepaid return shipping carton to send the battery pack back and they will then send you a new one.

I've checked into these hoverboards and thought they looked like fun but my wife says I have to learn how to walk without running into things before I can buy anything that propels me at a faster rate of speed.
