In some respect 2020 seems like a lifetime ago and in other respects the struggles we had to endure are still fresh in our minds. We’ve come a long way in the last five years, and we’ve gotten back to as close to normal as we could be.

The topic of vaccines is still a hot button issue for some, but for a lot of people they just want to know if they need to continue getting the covid shot. During a recent doctor's visit, I asked my doctor about vaccines, and he advised me to get them because my wife has a compromised immune system. But that was the underlying reason for his suggestion.

The topic came up at work this week, folks were asking if it was still being recommended for covid vaccines or not. Well, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) has spoken. On Monday, their guideline was that it is up to you whether or not you get the current version of the vaccine.

Nearly 85% of the population received the vaccine in the onset of the virus, but the dropped to 23% during the last seasonal recommendation for protecting against covid. The recommendation is still in place for those 65 years old and older, and for those who have health issues that make them susceptible to catching the virus now.

The CDC says that you should consult with your doctor about your current health situation. You could also talk with a pharmacist or a nurse for their opinions as well.

The colder weather is coming quickly as is the season for viruses and illnesses to be going around. According to the CDC, the ball is in your court whether or not you want to dribble it when it comes to the covid vaccine.
