Summer may be winding down but there is still at least one more opportunity for folks in central Minnesota to spread out a blanket and catch a flick under the stars.

St. Cloud Parks and Recreation will host its "Movie Under the Stars" event at Whitney Park on Field C-3 on Saturday (September 7th). This year the 1998 movie The Parent Trap will be shown on a big screen.

The Parent Trap is rated PG and stars Lindsay Lohan as (both) twin young girls who meet for the first time at summer camp and then try to get their separated parents to reunite.

IMDB:

When two pre-teens named Hallie and Annie meet at summer camp, their lives are rattled when they realize that they are identical twins. With parents, British mother aka famous dress designer Elizabeth and American father, a wine maker named Nick, living on different sides of the universe, the girls decide to make an identity swap in hopes of spending time with their other parent.

In addition to the movie, the event will include inflatables, yard games and concessions starting at 6:30 p.m., while the movie will begin at dusk.

No registration is required and attendees are asked to bring their own chairs or blankets if they want them.

Temperatures on Sunday look to be a bit chilly, with a high of 67 and a low temperature of 41 (!).

Last year's event featured the 2022 blockbuster hit Top Gun: Maverick.
