| Whitney Senior Center (WSC), in partnership with the College of St. Benedict and St. John’s University nursing students and community health partners, is offering a free Health Coaches for Hypertension Control (HCHC) workshop to help adults manage high blood pressure and reduce their risk of heart disease and stroke. The eight-week workshop will begin on February 18 and will be offered at various host sites across our region and also via Zoom. Participants will learn practical strategies to monitor blood pressure, improve nutrition, increase physical activity, manage stress, and work effectively with healthcare providers. Sessions are led by trained Health Coaches and supervised by nursing faculty, providing evidence-based education in a supportive group setting.Hypertension affects nearly half of U.S. adults and is a leading risk factor for heart attack, stroke, kidney disease, and other complications. Community-based programs like HCHC are proven to improve blood pressure control and health behaviors. The workshop is open to adults with high blood pressure or those at risk, and there is no cost to participate. Family members and caregivers are also welcome to attend.
