Parents of College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University students received a letter updating them on the COVID-19 coronavirus situation as students return from spring break.

The letter obtained by our radio station says both the college and university will continue to monitor the situation. A team of staff meet on a regular basis to consider all new information and follow recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as Minnesota Department of Health.

While CSB/SJU does not feel like drastic responses are appropriate right now, they, like many other organizations, are preparing for future possibilities and do have plans in place if someone on campus becomes infected with COVID-19.

Residential Life staff are prepared to isolate infected students. They've also got a plan in place to house students who can't leave campus for a variety of reasons, such as if their home is in a level 3 area.

They've also taken extra precautions to make sure common areas are sanitized and disinfected frequently.

The letter is signed by SJU Interim Vice President Michael P. Connolly and CSB Vice President for Student Development, Mary Geller.
