I know I complain about winter all the time but there really are some wonderful things about it here in Minnesota. I'm turning over a new leaf today by compiling a list of the things that make winter totally awesome!

Today is really the last warmer day we're going to see for awhile and the forecast is predicting a possibility of snow. Winter is coming and here's some of the reasons we should all be excited!

Winter is Beautiful

You really cannot deny the beauty of winter when the trees are covered in snow and bodies of water are all iced over. Yes, it looks cold and desolate but there's a sparkly magic to it as well.

Chocolate is undoubtedly good for the soul and what better way to make it even more winter friendly than by drinking it warm out of a mug? I promise it will make your winter a million times better!

Snow Days

I don't know about you, but I lived for snow days when I was a kid. There was nothing better than getting up at your normal time, checking the television, finding out school was canceled for the day and going back to bed. As an adult, I long for days like that!

There's just something about sitting in the brisk winter air trying to catch dinner that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

It's Perfectly Acceptable to Turn on the Fireplace

Having the fireplace on makes a home or room seem so cozy and since you'll probably sweat to death if you turn it on during a Minnesota summer, you should take full advantage when it starts getting cold outside!

It's the Best Time for Baking and Cooking

You can do some really good eating in the winter given that Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's fall in the colder part of the year. I mean think about it, turkeys, mashed potatoes, cookies, pies and so much other delicious food. It's no wonder we have to make New Year's resolutions to lose weight!

Great Exercise

You can really burn those holiday calories and then some by shoveling your driveway. If you're feeling ambitious, do your neighbor's too! You'll keep burning calories and you'll probably get the Neighbor of the Year Award!

Sledding

I used to love going sledding! My biggest regret was never doing it like Kevin McCallister did in Home Alone! Maybe I'll make that happen some day.

Let's be real, nobody wears the bulky winter clothes -- the jackets, boots, snow pants, mittens and dorky hats -- better than us Minnesotans!

White Christmas

Maybe it's because I was born and raised here but I cannot imagine a Christmas without snow. As much as I want to live in a warmer climate, who wants to decorate a palm tree?

Who knew that these little cups of magic could take away the cold and make winter much more bearable?

Snow Angels

Making snow angels was awesome as a kid and be honest, you go find that hidden spot in your yard where your neighbors can't see you and you still make them as an adult. No worries, it's nothing to be ashamed of!

Looking Forward to Spring

I'm not a huge connoisseur of winter, I try to hibernate for as long as I can, but I'm guessing even those who love winter get sick of how long it is. Therefore, you dream about and look forward to spring!

Those are some of my favorite things about winter, what can you add to this list?
