Have you seen this yet? Yesterday (5/28) a 4 year-old boy fell into the habitat area of an endangered gorilla at the Cincinnati Zoo. The child had slipped through a railing before falling nearly ten feet into the gorilla enclosure. The zoo was forced to kill the rare animal to protect the boy.

Ultimately, the zoo's staff deemed the situation 'life threatening,' and felt they had no choice other than kill the 17-year old male western lowland gorilla. Two females had earlier been removed from the exhibit.

Many are blaming the parents for failing to keep an eye on their son. The zoo calls the loss of the gorilla, 'heartbreaking,' but are glad they were able to save the boy.
