Sauk Rapids could have been a major city in Minnesota had it not gone through a huge cyclone in the 1880s. It's OK though, you grew up here and loved your small town experience. If you're from Sauk Rapids, be loud and proud!

1. You loved driving, biking, skating or sledding down the steep hills. Driving up the hills in the winter was another story.

2. You went to Hillside when it was a middle school.

3. You've heard about the Sauk Rapids tornado of 1886 that changed our state's history nearly a million times. As the story goes, Sauk Rapids was supposed to be the state capitol.

4. You grew up shopping at the best Coborns store in the area. It's because their corporate headquarters is located in Sauk Rapids. It's also where the grocery store chain originally started.

5. When you were a kid you went to the Sauk Rapids dairy with the cow on the roof. You'd always get your ice cream and milk from there. They even put the milk in little class bottles!

6. Taco John's was a heaven send! You ate there all of the time.

7. Burger King came to town and was a game changer! It was a pretty big deal at the time...you went to a bunch of birthday parties here--and you probably even had a birthday at BK!

8. You spent your Fourth of July watching fireworks under the old Sauk Rapids bridge and grilling in the park. It was the best view in the area.

9. As a kid you played at Sauk Rapids Lions Sunset Park. It's the park that was adjacent to the old Sauk Rapids bridge. It had the best merry-go-round. You had to be careful though because there were always shady geese lurking around.

10. One of your favorite things to do at Coborns was ride the penny horse ride!

11. Little league baseball in the summer was the best because after the game you'd go swimming in the wadding pool next to the fields.

12. You know exactly what I mean when I say "solar home."

13. You went to school at Pleasant View Elementary.

14. You remember when the Sauk Rapids Storm used to be the Sauk Rapids Indians. There was a big lawsuit. You might even still have yearbooks from a time before the name change.

15. The hot-air balloon water tower always reminds you of home. It would break your heart if it were ever painted something else!

16. Your walked down to the Dairy Queen during school with your class for a treat! You pretty much walked everywhere with your class in Sauk Rapids.

17. The colors blue and red mean something to you if you went to the middle school. It was pretty much a way of life.

18. You remember Mississippi Heights Middle School. It had the BEST al a carte line ever. Curly fries were your jam!

19. You secretly always wanted to go inside of the Poor Clares building. It seemed so mysterious!

20. You were pretty bummed out when the city tore down the old bridge in 2007. You still think about it from time to time when you drive by the old location.

21. You loved reading the town's newspaper called the Sauk Rapids Herald.

22. The Benton County Fair was one of the highlights of the summer. You pretty much lived at the fair for a week!

23. Your family ate at Jimmy's Poor House a lot. They have great food.
