Year End Charitable Giving Opportunities

Our friends at Catholic Charities wanted us to remind you that there is a matching grant still in place thru December 31st of this year. The Norman Skalicky Foundation will match donations to Catholic Charities Emergency Food Shelf, Salvation Army, or St. Joseph Food Shelf up to $150,000.

TAX PAYER INFORMATION

Minnesota taxpayers filing their 2018 state income tax returns will be able to continue itemizing their charitable gifts even if they are taking the standard deduction at the federal level.

IRA ROLLOVER GIFTING

If you are 701/2, you may roll over up to $100,000 from your IRA to Catholic Charities
without paying any federal income tax on your gift. Your gift will qualify for your
2018 required minimum distribution and you will not have to pay federal income tax
on the amount given from your IRA to Catholic Charities. To make an IRA rollover
gift, simply contact your custodian and request that an amount be transferred TO Catholic Charities.

SECURITIES GIFT

Consider donating appreciated securities by Dec. 31, 2018 that you have held for more
than one year for a full-market-value deduction and no capital gains tax.

For electronic transfer via broker or bank, You, your broker, or banker should send a letter or an email to Bobbie Mattison at

Inform Catholic Charities of the impending transfer. Include your name, the name of the security/stock/bond being transferred, the number of shares, and the financial institution handling your transaction. The tax identification number for Catholic Charities is: 41-0737799.
