The Minnesota Wild (31-25-10) scored a 3-2 shootout victory against the Buffalo Sabres (26-32-8) this afternoon in New York. The win is Minnesota's fourth straight -- and their first shootout victory of the year.

The Wild now hold a two-point lead over Colorado in the Western Conference wild card race. Minnesota currently occupies the eighth and final playoff spot. The Avalanche face Nashville this afternoon.

Next up for the Wild: Tomorrow night (3/6) against the St. Louis Blues at the Xcel Energy Center.
