The Minnesota Wild (27-20-7) beat the visiting Florida Panthers (24-18-11) 2-1 last night at the Xcel Energy Center. The win keeps the Wild two points back from the final playoff spot in the NHL's Western Conference. Vancouver currently holds that spot -- and also won last night.

Minnesota built a two-goal lead and led 2-1 heading to the third period. Dubnyk stopped eight shots in the final 20 minutes to preserve the victory, Minnesota's seventh in its past eight games. The Wild have at least a point in nine consecutive games.

Goalie Devan Dubnyk, acquired from the Phoenix Coyotes twelves games ago, continues to be one of the hottest goaltenders in the league. Dubnyk has played in every Wild game since joining the team, helping them to a 9-1-2 record since his arrival.

Jason Pominville open the scoring for Minnesota last night in the first period. Zach Parise added goal number two in the second period. Florida lit the lamp three minutes after Parise in the second, and that's where the scoring would end.

Next up for the Wild; Saturday night against the Carolina Hurricanes at 7 PM at the Xcel Energy Center. (Radio: 1240 WJON, TV: Fox Sports North.)
