With the Minnesota Twins 10-4 loss last night to the Kansas City Royals at Target Field, their record has fallen to an embarrassing 11 wins and 33 losses. Even for dissapointment-conditioned Minnesota sports fan like us, this is hard to swallow -- but how does it compare among the worst seasons ever?

If the season ended today, the Twins would be tied for third place in the race for the worst winning percentage in the modern era (.250), tied with the 1962 New York Mets who ended the season with a 40-120 record, but there are many games to go in 2016 before we can pencil them in.

The worst season of the modern baseball era belongs to the 1916 Philadelphia Athletics who went 36-117 (.235). The 1935 Boston Braves are next on the list with a record of 38-115 (.248). Any way you slice it, if the 2016 Twins continue at the current pace -- their result will be in the 'historic' range.

So where does this season compare with the worst Twins seasons on all time? The 1982 Twins hold the distinction of the worst MLB team to play on Minnesota soil, ending with a record of 60-102 (.370). This year's team is performing at a rate well below that. The worst year in franchise history belongs to the 1904 Washington Senators who ended the season at 38-113 (.252) -- and yes, the 2016'ers are pacing worse than that too.

Will the 2016 Minnesota Twins be the worst Major League Baseball team of all time? I'm sayin' there's a chance.

The Vikings first pre-season game kicks off in Cincinnati against the bengals in 80 days.

The Twins host Kansas City at 7:10 tonight at Target Field. A loss would drop their winning percentage to .244 -- or .009 off the pace from the worst team since the modern era began in 1900.
