Well, Dad’s big day is this Sunday…do you have a plan? Dads are hard to buy for; my dad has just about everything he wants and the things he doesn’t have – I can’t afford! So, consider this – isn’t the best gift you can give the gift of time spent together? With that in mind, here are a few things going on in the area this weekend that your dad might enjoy.

 

Becker Freedom Days really get exciting on Saturday with the POWER TOOL RACING! There’s a craft show, pony rides, POWER TOOL RACING!, bingo, free golf, POWER TOOL RACING!, a parade, fireworks and …POWER TOOL RACING! Yeah, I think the power tool racing’s gonna be pretty cool.

 

The Outlaw Monster Truck event is in Sauk Centre on June 17 & 18.    Advance tickets can be purchased at the NAPA Auto Parts stores of St. Cloud and Sauk Centre, through their website:  www.outlawmonstertrucks.com or at the gate.

 

There will be a Community Celebration of Fatherhood at Lake George Saturday, June 18, 9:30am-12:30pm. This is a free event for Dads and Kids ages 0-8. Fishing, craft projects, story-telling, music, parent-child activities, sidewalk chalk, free books, entertainment, face painting, food & beverages and more! Call 253-5828 for more information.

 

St. John the Baptist Parish in Collegeville will serve a Father’s Day Brunch Sunday, June 19 from 8:30am to 12:30pm at St. John’s Parish Center on Fruit Farm Road.  The cost is $7.00 for adults, Children ages 5-13: $3.00 and children under 5 are free.  This is an all you can eat brunch. The menu includes: Scrambled Eggs, Hash Browns, Pancakes, Waffles with assorted toppings, St. Joe Meat Market Sausage, Johnnie Bread Toast, Beverages and our famous St. John The Baptist Polish Coffee Cakes!

 

The Cold Spring Home Pride Lions Club is sponsoring a Dad’s Belgian Waffle & Sausage Breakfast on Father’s Day, June 19, 2011 from 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.  It will take place at St. Boniface Church in the parish center.  These all-you-can-eat waffles are baked right before your eyes and served to you hot off the grill. The price is only $7.00 per plate. The profits from this effort are designated to help pay for the inflatable games that will be available at the Cold Spring Home Town Pride celebration in July.  Good for you and good for the community.

 

The Stearns County Thunderin’ Tom’s Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation is holding their 4th annual Jake’s Day on Saturday June 18th at the Albany Sportsman’s Club from 9am to 1pm. Registration begins at 8:30am with demonstrations on archery, dog training, gun safety, BB gun shoot, 22 shoot, cal making, and turkey calling. There will also be many activities for children ages 3-16 years old. Lunch and refreshments will be provided and a $10 membership fee will include all demonstrations, JAKES membership and a t-shirt.
