Gary Allan is one of the coolest performers in country music, as fans who see him live in person at WE Fest 2016 will learn first-hand.

Allan has one of the most unique, instantly identifiable voices in the genre, and he also gravitates toward darker, edgier and harder-hitting material than almost any other artist of his generation. He's very unusual in that he consistently scores hits with songs whose lyrics reflect the difficult truths of life's tough side, and that connects with his fans in a way that's reminiscent of old school country singers like Hank Williams, Kris Kristofferson or Johnny Cash, who seemed to channel their own pain into songs that fans could universally identify with.

The California native grew up in a musical family and started playing honky tonks with his father when he was just 13 years old. Allan released his first album, Used Heart for Sale, in 1996, but it was really his third album, 1999’s Smoke Rings in the Dark, that was his commercial breakthrough, going Platinum.

He has scored a string of No. 1 hits that include “Man to Man,” “Tough Little Boys,” “Nothing on But the Radio” and “Every Storm (Runs Out of Rain),” and his live shows draw from his entire career to offer up one hit after another after another.

He balanced his set at the 2016 Taste of Country Music Festival in June with tracks including "Watching Airplanes," "She's So California," "The Best I Ever Had" and more. Fans can expect a full range of material, as well as his latest single, "Do You Wish It Was Me," which is the lead single from a new album he has finished, when Allan and his band perform on Saturday (Aug. 7) at WE Fest to help wrap up the third night of the three-day country music and camping festival.

Eric Church, Kid Rock and Tim McGraw are set to headline the festival, which is one of the largest of its kind in the U.S.
