Did you know the last time a country artist hosted Saturday Night Live was Taylor Swift in 2009? And #DYK also that Blake Shelton is only the 8th country artist to EVER host this famous live comedy show? That's not many at all, considering the late night staple has been on television for 40 seasons and 778 episodes!

  • Blake Shelton  (JAN 2015)
  • Taylor Swift  (NOV 2009)
  • Tim McGraw  (NOV 2008)
  • Garth Brooks  (NOV 1999)
  • Garth Brooks  (FEB 1998)
  • Dolly Parton  (APR 1989)
  • Johnny Cash  (APR 1982)
  • Ricky Nelson  (FEB 1979)
  • Kris Kristofferson  (JUL 1976)

Regardless of the show's bias towards film actors and other pop culture figures in it's hosting roles, our country boy from The Voice did alright. I personally enjoyed his spoofs of The Bachelor, tribute songs, and the country music video- who had look-a-likes for Martina McBride and Wynonna Judd as an inside joke. :D Blake was a bit stiff, but I really hope the overall writing of the show improves for next time, considering some of the skits were written without clear understanding of country themes.

Opening Monologue (spoofing the country comedy TV show Hee-Haw)

Farm Hunk (spoofing The Bachelor)

Wishin' Boot (country music video spoof)

"Neon Light" Performance

Parole Board (casual spoof of The Shawshank Redemption and Hannibal Lecter)

My Darling Joan (spoof of tribute songs)

"Boys 'Round Here" Performance

Magic Show Interrupted (real vs. fake?)
