Eden Prairie -- Minnesota Vikings LB Eric Kendricks has been named the NFC Defensive Player of the week.

The second year linebacker recorded his first career interception and touchdown against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. He also had seven tackles in the 26-15 victory.

The Vikings defense scored twice in the game with the 77-yard interception return by Kendricks and a 24-yard fumble return for a touchdown by Danielle Hunter.

The former UCLA linebacker became the first rookie to lead the Vikings in tackles since Rip Hawkins in 1961, after posting 105 tackles during his initial campaign.

Kendricks becomes the eighth different Viking to earn NFC Player of the Week honors under head coach Mike Zimmer.
