The Minnesota Vikings (7-9) gave rookie head coach Mike Zimmer his first NFC North Division victory with a 13-9 win over the visiting Chicago Bears (5-11) this afternoon at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater finished his 12-game rookie season with a 6-6 record.

The winner of today's Green Bay/Detroit game will be the NFC North champion, with the loser taking the second spot -- both making the playoffs. With today's win the Vikings secured the third spot in the division, with the Bears falling to the last spot.

Bridgewater was 17 of 25 for 209 yards with one touchdown and an interception. Matt Asiata was the Vikings leading rusher carrying the ball 19 times for 91 yards. Detroit Lakes native and MSU-Mankato grad Adam Thielen led the Vikes in receiving with three catches for 68 yards, including a 44-yard touchdown.

With the season now over for the Vikings, early projections have Minnesota earning a draft pick somewhere in the low teens. Tampa will have the number-one pick, followed by Houston.

The NFL playoffs begin next weekend.
