A big snowstorm is expected to track across Minnesota this Friday and Saturday. A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for southern Minnesota (including the Twin Cities) where up to a foot of snow could fall. 6 to 8 inches is more likely in the St. Cloud area -- with bitter cold to follow.

From the National Weather Service this evening: A big snowstorm is expected Friday into early Saturday across the Upper Midwest. Widespread totals in excess of 6 inches are likely, with some in the 8 to 10 inch range across portions of the area. Following the snow, the coldest air since January 2014 will arrive with widespread lows in the -20s Saturday night and wind chills of 30 to 45 below by early Sunday morning.
