Twins’ Zumaya Done For the Year
Twins relief pitcher Joel Zumaya tore his ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow and is done for the season. The MRI confirmed the injury on Sunday. Zumaya lasted just 13 pitches into his first session of live batting practice before he experienced pain in his right elbow and had to leave the mound. Zumaya was coming back from a broken elbow in 2010 and hasn’t pitched in a major league game since June of 2010.
Zumaya had thrown 100 miles per hour prior to breaking his elbow and was clocked recently at between 93-95 MPH with his fastball.
