The Minnesota Twins (68-81) picked up the win Sunday afternoon in Kansas City beating the Royals 9-6 to avoid a four game sweep.

The Royals jumped out with a pair of runs in the first inning for the early 2-0 lead, but Minnesota countered with one in the second, one in the third, and three runs in the fourth inning to take a 5-2 lead.

The Royals punched in another run in the 4th inning and two in the 5th -- before the Twins tipped the scale back in their favor with two runs in the sixth inning for a 7-5 lead.

Kyle Gibson got the start for the Twins, pitching 6 & 2/3 innings giving up 5 runs on 11 hits, with no walks and 6 strikeouts.
