The Twins mounted a late comeback but came up a bit short in an 8-7 loss to the Indians Saturday at Progressive Field in Cleveland.

Joe Mauer hit a two-run home run in the top of the first inning for the Twins, but the lead would not last long.

Twins starter PJ Walters failed to make it out of the first inning for Minnesota, allowing six runs on only one hit, thanks to five walks. Walters needed 46 pitches (only 18 strikes) to get just two outs in the first inning before being relieved by Anthony Swarzak.

The Twins chipped away at the lead with two solo home runs from Chris Parmelee and a solo shot from Oswaldo Arcia, but ended up a run short of a win.

Minnesota left eleven runners on base and were just 1-13 with runners in scoring position.
