The Twins topped the Detroit Tigers 6-2 Wednesday afternoon to avoid a sweep at Comerica Park. Scott Diamond pitched six strong innings to lead the Twins to victory.

Minnesota scored a pair of runs off Tigers starter Anibal Sanchez in the top of the first inning thanks to a pair of hits and two walks. Justin Morneau had an RBI double and Chris Parmelee an RBI single to plate runs for the Twins.

Jamey Carroll knocked in another Minnesota run in the top of the second for a 3-0 Twins lead.

Diamond cruised through five innings before running into turbulence and giving up a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth. He finished the game with three strikeouts and only allowed three hits in six innings pitched.

Pedro Florimon added an RBI single in the top of the seventh for a 4-2 lead, and Morneau added another RBI on a base hit to make the score 5-2 into the seventh inning.

Parmelee capped the scoring with a solo home run in the eighth inning.

The Twins take Thursday off before heading to Cleveland for the middle section of a ten game road trip.
