The Minnesota Twins (83-77) lost to the visiting Kansas City Royals (93-67) 3-1 last night at Target Field. The loss, coupled with win by the Astros and Angels, leaves the Twins on the brink of elimination from the American League Wild Card race.

The Twins will be eliminated from contention with a loss in either of their final two games, or a win in either of the final two games by the Houston Astros. And there's still no guarantee that would be enough.

It sucks that they will likely come up just short -- but the bigger picture is that this team far exceeded my expectations for 2015. They made it fun, interesting, and competitive from wire to wire (and that's a hell of a lot more that we've been able to say for quite a while).

Thanks for getting me to football & hockey season Twinkies.

The Twins & Royals play again today at 12:05, and tomorrow afternoon at 2:10 -- then it's time to put the bats away for the long Minnesota winter, looking forward to April with frozen anticipation.
