Every Halloween, young people across North America trick-or-treat for non-perishable food items, instead of just candy, and collect food items at their schools and in their communities, supporting their local food banks and helping to scare local hunger.

Last year, students across Canada and the U.S. raised more than 850,000 pounds of food.  This year, the goal is 1 million pounds.

In Minnesota, more than 140 schools are supporting Free The Children’s We Scare Hunger campaign. Everyone is invited to the We Scare Hunger rally today at 2pm at the Second Harvest Heartland West Food Bank in Golden Valley.
