Today in St. Cloud Sports History- Feb 10th
1987:
Herb Brooks, Craig Dahl and the St. Cloud State Men's hockey team prepares to take on UW-River Falls on Feb 11. That match-up had a memorable 30 minute brawl during pregame warmups that delayed the game's start time by an hour and resulted in ten ejections. Brooks was locked in a bathroom during the fracas, which took 30 police officers to break up.

1988: SCSU football coach Noel Martin announced a 31-player recruiting class for the upcoming season including 18 Minnesotans.

1989: Apollo wrestling begins competition in the 8AA individual meet. The Eagles boasted two region-title winners in junior Chad Lemke (103 lbs) and senior Jeff Oxton (152).

SCSU Men's basketball tops South Dakota 81-75 at Halenbeck Hall behind 41 points from senior Tony King's 41 points.

1990: St. John's basketball falls in overtime to St. Thomas 73-70 at Warner Palestra in front of 4,000 fans.

SCSU Women's basketball coach Gladys Ziemer earned her 300th career win in a 76-73 victory over Northern Colorado in her 17th season with the team.

1994: Brainerd boys hockey tops Apollo 3-2 to win the Central Lakes Conference title. The Eagles were the defending conference champions, with Apollo and Brainerd combining to win the past seven league titles.

ROCORI wrestling secured the CLC title with a 38-12 dual meet victory over Tech. It was the Spartans fourth straight conference dual-meet title.

1995: SCSU Women's basketball coach Lori Ulferts earned her first career NCC win with an 88-75 victory over Morningside. The Huskies beat South Dakota the next night as well for their first back-to-back conference win in four seasons.
