The Minnesota Timberwolves fell short Monday night in their home opener, losing 106-101 to the Portland Trail Blazers at Target Center. The evening began with a 15 minute video tribute to their late coach, Flip Saunders.

The Wolves came out of the gates hot, but allowed Portland to tie the game just before the half before the Blazers pulled away for the win in the second half.

Kevin Martin led the Wolves with 24 points and Andrew Wiggins added 16 in the loss. The Wolves host the Miami Heat Thursday night.
