Country music is all about camaraderie, and Kenny Chesney goes above and beyond when it comes to creating a welcoming atmosphere backstage at his shows, according to Thomas Rhett.

Rhett is currently out with Chesney on his 2018 Trip Around the Sun Tour and says that the superstar has an open-door policy backstage at his megashows. He has set up a space where friends, family and crew members are welcome to gather and have fun together.

"He sets up this like gigantic space next to his bus where he has a tiki bar and food trucks and music playin'," Rhett says. "And literally like before the show and after the show, I could’ve walked up to Kenny and said, ‘Hey dude I have 30 family members here. Is that cool?’ He’d be like, ‘Yeah! Come on!’"

"Get Along" Comes From a Real Place

Rhett also had the opportunity to open for Chesney in 2017 on a series of his summer stadium dates and shares that the "Get Along" star has a way of creating a more personalized experience for those working alongside him. It feels more familial than strictly professional.

"He kind of treats everybody like you’re their family and I think that’s what creates such a unique and fun atmosphere with Kenny backstage and that’s why so many people want to tour with him," Rhett explains. "Just from the camaraderie that you get from that tour and then you also get to watch somebody play two hours of nothing but the most gigantic songs in the history of country music.”

Rhett and Chesney continue on the Trip Around the Sun Tour with Old Dominion and Brandon Lay through August. The tour includes stops at Nashville's Nissan Stadium and Chesney's annual two-night stay at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass.
