The one player the Minnesota Vikings absolutely could not do without this season, quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, suffered a non-contact injury to his knee today in practice at Winter Park that appears to be very serious. Bridgewater was taken to the hospital in an ambulance, and practice was cancelled.

In a 4 PM press conference coach Mike Zimmer said that Bridgewater's exact condition was not yet know. He did say that he spoke briefly with Teddy before he was taken away by ambulance -- and added that he had been sedated at the hospital, and was undergoing an MRI and other evaluation.

Zimmer also added that he and General Manager Rick Spielman have been discussing possible quarterbacks to add to the roster this afternoon -- which doesn't bode well for their speculation on Bridgwater's ability to play this season.

When Zimmer was asked, "Is there any hope he (Bridgewater) plays this season?" He responded, "I don't know. It doesn't look good right now."

Players on the field at the time of the injury were said to be stunned, with reactions ranging from disbelief to anger, some gathering around Teddy in prayer.

Veteran Shaun Hill and rookie Joel Stave are the other quarterbacks currently on the Vikings roster.

We will update as more information becomes available on Bridgewater's condition.
