The Target Center in downtown Minneapolis, home of the NBA's Timberwolves and WNBA's Lynx is undergoing a massive $150 million renovation to update and modernize the 27 year-old arena.

The renovation began almost a year ago following the end of last season's NBA campaign, with the first phase focusing on a new scoreboard, suite renovations, and acoustic approvements. Currently construction crews are focusing on the exterior of the building.

Following the Timberwolves season this spring the crews will start building a new lobby, new locker rooms, public restrooms, and more. The arena will be closed for the majority of the final improvements -- targeting a reopening in the fall of 2017. As part of the renovation, fans will have brand new seats to sit in starting with the 2017-18 Timberwolves season.

Anyone who's been to the Xcel Energy Center and Target Center lately can't help but notice how badly the Target Center needs some love compared to the newer 'X.' Glad it's getting it.

The Target Center is set the NCHC Frozen Faceoff March 17th & 18th. Go Huskies!
