minnesota north stars

As a kid growing up in Fridley during the 70's I had a set of NHL team banners that hung around my bedroom (that I shared with my little brother Rolf) featuring many teams that no longer exist. Some evaporated, some switched names and cities. Golden Seals? Rockies? Whalers? Nordiques? North Stars?

Yesterday at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis more than 37,000 fans were treated to a trip back in time -- as alumni from the Minnesota North Stars & Minnesota Wild faced alumni from the Chicago Blackhawks. The good guys one 6-4, and fun was had by all.

I'm a Minnesota native that grew up bleeding North Stars green & gold. When they left for Dallas in 1993, it ripped out my hockey heart. I moved away at about the same time, so when the Wild were born in 1997, I was away and we never really bonded -- until now.
