The Metrodome was deflated for the final time this morning, readying it for demolition; and making way for the construction of the new $1-billion Vikings stadium -- due to open at the start of the 2016 season.
That the ceremony was so anticlimactic perhaps should not have been a surprise, as it followed a game that ended with the home team kneeling down in the red zone to kill the clock in a meaningless game.
Extra police and security will be on hand today for the final Vikings game at the Metrodome. Fans removed everything they could get their hands on following the Vikings final game at Met Stadium in 1981.
