The Granite City Lumberjacks play in the Tier 3 NA3HL final four in Geneva, Illinois today through Sunday.  They are guaranteed 3 games and could play a 4th if they qualify for the finals.

Kathyrn Hamer, goalie for the Medway-Ashland girls hockey team in Massachusetts, started to feel something in her eye during the third period of her team’s playoff game against Winthrop. While she compared the sensation to “looking at the sun,” it turned out the annoyance was a laser pointer.

The Wild downed Boston 2-0 Sunday afternoon to end their 7-game losing streak.  Chad Rau and Matt Cullen each scored a goal for Minnesota and Niklas Backstrom had 48 saves for the Wild to get the shutout in net.  Minnesota was outshot 48-29.

The Minnesota Wild scored 3 goals but lost 4-3 to Winnipeg in an overtime shootout Thursday night at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

The Minnesota Wild lost 3-1 at Columbus to the Blue Jackets Tuesday night.  Nate Prosser scored the lone Minnesota goal and Niklas Backstrom had 34 saves.  The Wild were outshot 37-29.  The Wild failed to score on the power play while Columbus had 2 power play goals.

The St. Cloud State men’s hockey team completed a weekend sweep of Wisconsin winning 2-1 at the Kohl Center Saturday night.  SCSU got the game-winning goal from Jarrod Rabey in the 3rd period after Nic Dowd tied the game at 2 in the 2nd.

The Minnesota Wild lost 2-1 in an overtime shootout Saturday night to the Dallas Stars.  Jamie Benn scored the game-winning goal in the shootout for Dallas.  Kyle Brodziak scored the lone goal for Minnesota in regulation.  Niklas Backstrom had 25 saves...

The Minnesota Wild suffered a devastating loss at home to Nashville 5-4 Tuesday night.  Minnesota took a 4-1 lead early in the 3rd period but Nashville came stormin’ back to tie the game at 4 with 3 minutes left and scored the game-winner with :24 seconds remaining...

The Minnesota Wild are getting healthier as wing Guillaume Latendresse is nearing a return.  He’s been out with a concussion but is now skating with the team.  Mikko Koivu (separated shoulder) is also skating with the team but appears to be further away from returning.

The 3rd ranked Gopher men’s hockey team defeated St. Cloud State 3-2 Saturday night to complete a sweep of SCSU.  Saturday night’s win over SCSU for Minnesota came in St. Cloud.  Sam Warning scored the game-winning goal for the Gophers to break a 2-all tie in the 3rd period.
