The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Watch for most of Western Minnesota for Sunday afternoon and Sunday night -- including Alexandria, Willmar, Litchfield, and Hutchinson. The Blizzard Watch extends as far east as Douglas, Pope, and Swift counties.

Blizzard conditions are possible across Western Minnesota -- Sunday afternoon through late Sunday night due to a combination of strong winds and falling snow. Wind gusts as high as 50 mph could cause whiteout conditions and significant drifting.

From the National Weather Service this morning: Travel could be very difficult Sunday afternoon through Monday morning. Northwest wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph will lead to blowing snow, and could cause whiteout conditions across western and southern Minnesota. A blizzard watch is in effect for Sunday afternoon through Monday morning.
