On Sunday, June 25th, we’re featuring country icon Willie Nelson at 11 am on the Sunday Morning Country Classic Spotlight.

Born April 29, 1933 in Abbott, Texas, active since 1956 to the present day.  He has done it all -- musician, songwriter, producer, actor, activist and singer.  He has worked with Waylon Jennings, The Highwaymen, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson and Merle Haggard and he was one of the main figures of Outlaw country.  Nelson has acted in over 30 films, co-authored several books and has been involved in activism for the use of

Nelson has acted in over 30 films, co-authored several books and has been involved in activism for the use of bio-fuels and the legalization of marijuana.

Back in the 50s, Nelson worked as a D.J. at several Texas radio stations.  He wrote songs that became country standards, “Funny How Time Slips Away,” “Crazy,” “Pretty Paper” and “Hello Walls.”

Willie Nelson lives in Maui, Hawaii where all the homes use only solar power.  His neighbors include Woody Harrelson, Kris Kristofferson and Owen Wilson.  Nelson also owns a ranch near Austin, Texas.

Nelson has been married four times and has fathered seven children.  His current wife is Annie D’Angelo. They married in 1991 and also have two sons, Lukas and Jacob.
