On Sunday May 1st at 11 am,  the spotlight shines bright on the "Great Story Teller" and prolific songwriter Tom T. Hall.

Born May 25, 1936 in Olive Hill, Kentucky.  In his early years he worked as a DJ, served in the army and briefly attended college.  His big break as a songwriter came in the 1960’s when he wrote “Harper Valley PTA.”  Jeannie C. Riley recorded the song, it became a smash million seller in 1968.  The song won both a Grammy award and CMA award.  Hall’s recording career took off after “Harper Valley PTA.”

Some of Hall’s biggest hits include “Old Dogs, Children and Watermelon Wine,” “Country Is,” “I Love,” “I Like Beer” and “The Year Clayton Delaney Died.”  Hall has written dozens of songs for other artists including George Jones, Waylon Jennings, Loretta Lynn and Bobby Bare.  In 1996 he wrote “Little Bitty” which scored a number one hit for Alan Jackson.  Hall lost his wife Dixie Hall January 16, 2015 following a lengthy illness she was 801.  Hall and Miss Dixie were married in 1968.  Tom T. Hall, singer, songwriter and novelist turns 79 on May 25th this year.
