Ricky Skaggs grew up in the mountains of East Kentucky.  He was born in Cordell, Kentucky on July 18, 1954.  In his mid-teens, Skagg met guitarist Keith Whitley, who was also in his mid-teens,  and the two started playing together with Keith's brother, Dwight on several radio shows.

He launched his own country career in 1980 after moving to Nashville and it skyrocketed with several number one country albums including the album Country Boy.  He achieved several number one country songs including, Heartbroke, Highway 40 Blues, Honey Open That Door, Uncle Pen, Country Boy and several other top ten country hits.

He has been on the Grand Ole Opry since 1982 and has received 14 Grammy awards and 8 CMA Awards..  Ricky married Sharon White, lead singer of the country band The Whites, in 1981.  They have a daughter, Molly and a son, Lucas.  He  was previously married and has two children from that relationship as well.

Ricky Skaggs will be appearing at the Paramount Theatre on February 11th, 12th and 13th of 2016.
