Good morning country classic fans! It’s August 21st and we are over halfway through August.  The Minnesota State Fair begins Thursday, August 25th for a 12-day run, and summer is fading.

We get started at 9 am with the Country Classic Show at 98.1 FM Minnesota’s New Country, online and on your mobile device. Today the spotlight shines on Moe Bandy when we feature him at 11 am.

Moe Bandy spent his teen years as a bronco- and bull-riding cowboy with his brother Mike competing in rodeos all across Texas. Bandy soon tired of the bruises and fractured bones in the early 1960s and began to pursue a career in country music.  Bandy made his breakthrough recording. “I Just Started Hatin’ Cheatin’ Songs Today” in 1974.  Most of Bandy’s hit songs dealt with drinking, hurting and cheating.  In 1979, Bandy joined with Joe Stampley and recorded a novelty song, “Just Good Ole Boys.”  In 1975, Lefty Frizzell and Whitey Schaffer wrote a top 10 hit for Bandy, “Bandy the Rodeo Clown” one of his most popular recordings.  In 2007 Bandy and his brother Mike were inducted into the Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame.  Moe Bandy was born February 12,
