Lets get together on Sunday June 21st for the Sunday Morning Country Classic Spotlight at 11 am featuring the music of Mac Davis.

Morris Mac Davis was born on January 21, 1942 in Lubbock, Texas.  He has been active in the music industry since 1970.

Mac Davis made his mark as a songwriter, most notably for the song In the Ghetto for Elvis Presley.  He also wrote hits for Bobby Goldsboro.  He didn't make major inroads in country radio until It's Hard to be Humble.  That song broke into the country Top Ten in 1980 and peaked at number ten.

Texas in my Rear View Mirror hit #9 in 1980 but during the 1970's many of his songs crossed over scoring on both the country and pop charts.

He also starred in his own variety show on NBC, 'The Mac Davis Show.'  He made his feature film debut with Nick Nolte in the football film, 'North Dallas Forty' in 1979.

On a personal level, Davis has married three times and has three children.  Davis married his third wife Lise Gerard, a nurse, in 1982.
