Join me at 11 a.m. October 6th for the Country Classic Spotlight featuring Leroy Van Dyke.  It's a segment of the Country Classic Show, which kicks off at 9 a.m.

Leroy was born in Spring Fork, Missouri on October 4, 1929.  He is known as a country crooner.  He only has three top ten country hits, The Auctioneer, a song he co-wrote, Walk on By which was number one for 14 weeks on Billboards country chart and If a Woman Answers Hang Up The Phone.  All were pop crossover hits.

During his fifty plus year career, LeRoy has recorded more than 500 songs.  He appeared on Red Foley's Ozark Jubilee television show.  His song, Walk On By, gained Van Dyke a Grammy nomination.  He performed often in Branson, Missouri.

He graduated from the University of Missouri, where he studied journalism and animal husbandry.  In February 1966 his five year old son, Ray Leroy, fell through thin ice near his home in Nashville  and drowned.

He continues to play a full performance schedule, where his son, Ben, plays lead guitar.  He lives on a 1000 acre ranch in West central Missouri with his wife, Gladys.  All aspects of Leroy Van Dyke Enterprises are managed by his wife.
