Jerry Reed’s career brought him notable success as a guitarist, recording artist, songwriter and movie star.  His signature songs include, “Guitar Man,” “Amos Moses,” “When You’re Hot, You’re Hot” which gave him a Grammy Award for Best Male Country Vocal Performance.  Other hits include, “Lord, Mr. Ford,” “East Bound and Down” the theme song for the 1977 movie ‘Smokey and the Bandit’ in which Reed co-starred and “She Got the Goldmine, I Got the Shaft.”

JerryReed was born in Atlanta, Georgia March 20, 1937.  Reeds’ parents separated four months after his birth and he and his sister spent seven years in foster homes.  Reed was reunited with his mother and stepfather in 1944.

Reed past away in Nashville, Tennessee on September 1, 2008 of complications from emphysema at age 71.  He is survived by Priscilla, his wife of 49 years and by two daughters, Sedina and Lottie.
