We're going to shine the spotlight on Holly Dunn at 11 am this Sunday, October 18th, 2015.

Holly Dunn was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1957  and just turned 58 years old on August 22nd.  She is the sister of songwriter Chris Waters and she was active in the country music business from 1985-2003.  She released ten albums and had nineteen singles plus two duets on the Hot Country Singles Chart.

Two of her singles, Are You Ever Gonna Love Me and You Really Had Me Going both scored a number one position.  Holly was one of the most popular female singers of the late 1980's.

Daddy's Hands is the song she is most known for, a song she not only recorded, but also wrote.  It was released in August 1986, the song peaked at number seven on the country chart.

I remember daddy's hands, folded silently in prayer and reaching out to hold me.

Holly retired from country music in 2003, after 25 years of writing, recording and performing in Nashville.  Her mother is a very talented landscape painter and when she was growing up she was pulled by a passion for art and music.  Her decision came at a price.  As a member of the Grand Ole Opry since 1989, after being gone from Nashville for two years, she received a call from the Opry cast list saying that she was being removed.
