William Edwin Bruce Jr. has been a hit artist, songwriter and actor. Ed Bruce was born in Keiser, Arkansas December 29, 1940. He was raised in Memphis, Tennessee.

In 1966 he quit his job as a car salesman in Memphis and moved to Nashville. Bruce wrote great music, he wrote or co wrote "The Man That Turned My Mama On ," "Texas When I Die" for TanyaTucker. In 1978 he wrote a number one hit for Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson, "Mammas Don't Let Babies Grow Up to be Cowboys."

As an actor he appeared on the CBS television Miniseries, "The Chisholms," he also stared with James Garner in the Maverick television series on NBC.
