Eleanor Johnston, known professionally as Cristy Lane, was born on January 8, 1940 in Peoria, Illinois,   Her music was themed on religion, patriotism and heartache.

Cristy is best known for a number of major country hits in the late 1970’s and early 80’s including her cover version of One Day at a Time.  This song was written by Marijohn Wilken and Kris Kristofferson and it went on to became a #1 hit.

Another successful single was Let Me Down Easy, a top ten hit peaking at number seven. Cristy also found success with Simple Little Words and Penny Arcade.

Cristy was married before she was 20 and had three children by 1964.  Her husband, Lee Stoller, a salesman, encouraged her to sing professionally but she was a very shy person. He pressed her to perform publicly during a very trying time, she attempted suicide twice in the late 1960’s.

As Branson, Missouri began to emerge as a major entertainment attraction, their Cristy Lane Theater became a major success.  She sold her Branson theater in the mid 90’s but remained active as a performer.
