Yes its been a mild winter, but global warming be damned -- Sunday could be the coldest home game in Vikings' history, with the purple-clad gladiators taking the field against the Seattle Seahawks with the lowest kickoff temp since the record was set in Bloomington at Metropolitan Stadium in 1972 (and that's sayin' something). Skol!

If the temperature is below zero at kickoff it will be just the second time in team history the Vikings have kicked off in temperatures below zero. The first was on December 3rd, 1972 when it was -2˚ at kickoff between the Vikings and Chicago Bears -- that was the record.

Seattle coach Pete Carroll said, "I'm glad we're getting a chance to play outside there, just because of all the days I missed at the Met." Carroll is a former Minnesota assistant that spent his coaching days in the Metrodome.

In what could be their last game ever at TCF Bank Stadium, the Vikes will get to use their home-field advantage to full bone-chilling effect, and Pete Carroll might be regretting what he wished for.

Skol Vikings!
