ST. CLOUD - It was a surprisingly tough commute to work and school this (Friday) morning here in central Minnesota. A snow burst dropped just a enough precipitation to make for very slick roads.

The Minnesota State Patrol says they responded to 34 crashes in the St. Cloud region. Eight people were hurt in those crashes, but there were no serious injuries. They also had 14 vehicles that slid off the road and went into the ditch.

One of the crashes happened on Highway 10 and 85th Street Northwest in Sauk Rapids at about 6:40 a.m. A pickup rolled onto the southbound lanes. A 69-year-old St. Paul woman had non life-threatening injuries.

Another crash was on Highway 10 Royalton. It involved four vehicles. Only one of the five people involved in that crash was hurt. A 25-year-old man from Anoka has non life-threatening injuries.

The State Patrol responded to another crash along Highway 23. A Kia Soul rolled into the center median, landing on it's side. A 52-year-old woman from Milaca has non life-threatening injuries.

A rollover crash on Highway 10 in Benton County left three hurt. A Chevy Suburban tried to slow down while approaching another crash site, but slid on the icy roads and rolled in the ditch. The 57-year-old driver from Perham and her two passengers, a 44-year-old from New York Mills and a 58-year-old woman from Ottertail, all suffered non life-threatening injuries.

A broadside crash on Highway 25 outside of Monticello left two people hurt just before 8:30 a.m. A car driven by a 38-year-old woman from Maple Lake slid through a red light and was crashed into by a car driven by a 25-year-old man from Big Lake. Both suffered non life-threatening injuries.

The Twin Cities metro area saw an additional 59 crashes, with 17 injuries.

The totals are from 6:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. this (Friday) morning.
