St. Cloud Native Nate Wolters Ready For Start Of NBA Regular Season [AUDIO]
MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN – St. Cloud native Nate Wolters is wrapping-up his first pre-season in the NBA.
Wolters was drafted 38th overall by the Washington Wizards in June. He ended up getting traded to Milwaukee. He says the NBA is a big step up from college basketball.
Wolters says he’s not used to sitting on the bench, after playing almost every minute of every game for South Dakota State University. He says it’s been a learning experience, but a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that he wants to take advantage of.
He says it’s nice that he’s playing in Milwaukee, which is close enough for his friends and family to come see him play.
Wolters and the Bucks also played a pre-season game against the Minnesota Timberwolves in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, which allowed a lot of his college fans to see him play.
Wolters says when he was a member of the St. Cloud Tech basketball team his goal was just to play college basketball. His senior year was when he had a goal of playing Division I. That goal was reached by playing for South Dakota State University for the past four seasons. He says the possibility of playing in the NBA started to become a reality during his junior year in college.
Wolters is SDSU’s all-time leader in both points and assists.
Wolters and the Milwaukee Bucks start the regular season on Wednesday against the New York Nicks at Madison Square Garden.
