ST. CLOUD -- Lake George is getting some TLC this (Thursday) afternoon with help from two St. Cloud area companies.

Gray Plant Mooty and Bernick's partnered with United Way to help clean up the lake. Each company used the event as a way to celebrate each of their milestone years. Gray Plant Mooty celebrated being in business from 150 years and Bernick's for 100 years.

A team of about 40 worked to add more rocks to the Lake George shoreline, weed out the lake shore, weed out other landscaping around the lake and re-grout the walking path along the lake.

Gray Plant Mooty shareholder Steve Kutscheid says working on this project will help bring the community together.

"I think it's a great project because this is an area that gets used by every part of the community, it's become a community center piece and it benefits everyone in St. Cloud and really the surrounding area," says Kutscheid.

Bernick's Director of Corporate Affairs Jason Bernick says funding community projects and volunteerism are equally important to the company.

"It's not only providing support in cash and other ways but we also do volunteerism and we encourage all of our team members to volunteer," says Bernick.

Along with volunteering for the day both companies donated $5,000 each to the city of St. Cloud's Lake George fund.

Scott Zlotnik with St. Cloud Parks and Recreation says the money will be used for new site furnishings around the Lake George splash pad area including new garbage cans and picnic tables.

Both companies will be coming back to assemble the picnic tables when they arrive.
